Music: Joni Mitchell Big Yellow Taxi

The original version of this song is really better. Well, with due credence to Counting Crows, they did a good job with their cover. But the roughness, the raw passion and the playful rendition of Joni Mitchell just makes you crumble and fall. :)

PhotoBin: Joven

IMG_7803
This is the first batch of photos from the session I had with Joven. It was really a good thing that I had Lourd, Jude and Reg as my assistants since I'm practically new to "concept" photography. I usually shoot weddings, commercial stuff and what nots.

We were supposed to start the session at around 5pm but Lourd - whose Visatec strobes we were using - had a meeting and to postpone to an hour later. Around 6pm, the sky was getting dark (my initial concept was dark day), we started setting up the lights and our model started fixing herself up. Now, I have never done this before so I was getting nervous.

We started at around 6.45pm and tried different stuff, my hands shaking all along. But Lourd (being the master photographer and mentor that he is) prodded and encouraged me. Jude and Reg helped also. Of course, Joven was really cooperative so I guess we got some keepers. I think.

Happy viewing. =)

Rough Start

It's the 9th of February, well over thirty days into the year and I haven't written or posted anything yet. Not even a short "hello" or a yet another "snapshot". No, I haven't been lazy (again) and did nothing all day. In fact, I've been pretty busy. Pretty busy fixing stuff - my life mostly.

I will post more though as soon as I get things in order. I know I will have lots of things to write and photos to post. Just you wait! :D

Meanwhile, check out Eat At Joe's. Fun. For photographers. And aspiring ones.

Photobin: Jaydee & Ambo VietCong Style

Liza suggested that this photo of Jaydee looked like a VC back in the days. Like, a naphalm-scorched vietcong more likely (God-bless their souls)!

But I meant this to look like a miner or a steel worker or sumthin' at first. (It still looks like it!) Got the idea from PARC (i forget his webby) who's perfect style looks quite (if a bit) like this. Anyways, thanks for the idea Sir PARC! :)

NetFinds: Murphy's Lesser Known Laws

Murphy's Lesser Know Laws

1. Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

2. Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

3. Those who live by the sword get shot by those who don't.

4. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

5. The 50-50-90 rule: Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

6. If you lined up all the cars in the world end to end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them, five or six at a time, on a hill, in the fog.

7. The things that come to those who wait will be the scraggly junk left by those who got there first.

8. The shin bone is a device for finding furniture in a dark room.

9. A fine is a tax for doing wrong. A tax is a fine for doing well.

10. When you go into court, you are putting yourself into the hands of 12 people who weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty.

This is Jaydee. Another one of Ryan's headshot victims! LOLZ But, you've got to agree though. JD looks better here than in any other photo. Look even better than in person. Hehehe!

Photobin: Gerry's Grill for Lifestylebohol

Together with the Lifestylebohol Team, we went to BQ Mall all of us and trooped into Gerry's Grill, one of the county's top restaurant franchises these days. Cameras and writing implements in tow, we were ushered around the restaurant feeling the rich ambience of its interiors and whetted our palates with the classy taste of what Gerry's Grill is all about -- great food and great atmosphere.

And because, Mitzi was gonna be the one to write the article about Gerry's Grill, she was the first to dig in. (These assignments are her faves..hehehe!)

Photo-Bin: 6300 Headshots

It's nice when you have friends who are (very, very) willing subjects for your photography lessons. Here, Jadee and Jude willingly pose in front of my lens as I was sharpening my headshot skills.

This is Jadee. No, he is not a bug, or worse, a fly. I like the vignette I did on this one though.
IMG_7803

After seeing a video of Kevy Major Howards doing headshots of wannabee stars in his garage, I took up the challenge. Jude willingly obliged. hehehe

If you're a friend and very willing, contact me so we can set-up a shoot for your headshot. :)

Cheers!
