Except for the "No Trespassing - Private Sign" sign, this deserted island/sandbar just a few minutes from Panglao was left to ourselves as we frolicked on it's white sand beaches and basked under a not-so-hot August sun. When we arrived only a few "wild" cats were seen roaming around in bushes. Apparently, these "feline islanders" were left to tend for their own by their heartless owners. The thought had Liza imagine of things only Stephen King would be interested in.
Our French friends, Miriam, Tuff, Lalol, Olivier and Rachel were obviously having a relaxing time dipping into the (shallow) water before we had lunch. Scott, the new guy (he's Australian), felt more adventurous and trekked around the island. It took him 5 minutes. Kinz, Liza and me stayed on the abandoned shack, bored. (Or hungry because the others were still swimming, and it was already 2 pm.)
Lunch was great. I showed the group how to peel a mango like a banana. They already knew how to, but told me only after a lengthy explanation. Bastards.
I dipped and swam also a bit.
All in all, the trip was worth it really. Not counting the expensive boat (P1500), I recommend coming here every week to meditate and relax. Panglao is just a 20-minute ride from the city.
(More of this set, here.)

People: Terence
This set of Terence was way shot about a year ago using a 50mm 1.8 lens on a Canon XTi. I was browsing through and remembered how nice it was to shoot with a normal-prime. Now, with a Nikon D80, I'll have to save up a couple thousand more since the Nikon 50mm costs about P6,500 in Hidalgo - about P3T more expensive than the Canon counterpart.
Anyhow, I really have to get that lens. And after that a 50-200 VR or an SB-800 to compliment to my SB-600.
I'm gonna have to pray for more projects to come then! :)

Events: Seeing double at the Sandugo Oracles '07
Apart from Liza's a tenny-weeny-bit bland review of the Sandugo Oracles, I was also felt a bit weezy after a few minutes into the musical. I thought, "It's the same as last year?" People around me were whispering the same, too. On my viewfinder though, I really thought I was seeing double.
The first photo is from this year, the second is from last year.
Yes, this year's show is just the same as last year. But, not known to many (I had to ask people from the production team), this year's stageing had a few major (production) changes. For instance, the singing is done live this year; Cesar Montano and Rich Asuncion did some parts this year; more soldiers on the stage this year (purely my own opinion).
Well, the sensitive sucker that I am, the show had it's chilling moments, too. To think that, as always, Boholanos who haven't seen the production before should watch it. It really is something that we as a people should be proud about. And we have Mayor Dan Lim and Gardy Labad (and the rest of the production team) to thank for that. Hats off to them.

Events: Spongcola @ ICM

Alrighty. I never knew Spongcola frontman's name before. During their first Bohol concert though, people (mostly girls, young girls) were incessantly yelling, "Yael!" (did I get it right?). It must be his name then. I didn't get his companions' names though. Their names weren't mentioned as many times as Yael's.

Anyhow, my apparent ignorance of Pinoy band member's names was shared in common with most of my companions that night. Most of them were French - Tuff, Miriam, Jean and Bea. Vera who danced like crazy to the songs is German. Terence knew the band though, being the Pinoy Band maniac that he is! Hehehe Tito on the other hand, just didn't care enough.

Sheena, on her blog, mentioned about a fireworks display. I didn't get to see it though.

Events: Sandugo Street Dancing 2007
Although the contingents/participants were all Bohol-based, the Sandugo Street Dancing 2007 was still a blast. Under the raging heat of the July sun, everyone lined-up and packed into the streets of downtown Tagbilaran, including us photographers who - as usual - were in our fighting forms as we trained our cameras in search for the perfect frames to capture that street dancing spirit. Whatever that means.
Here are some of the photos I shot. For more photos, please click here.

Some of the local photographers present were Lourd Pocon, Meljun Daniel, Terence Lopez, Miriam, Jean and Beatrice. I also saw George Tapan on the streets with his "bazooka" on a D200. Later that afternoon, I went with him to Abatan for a kayaking shoot.
Videographer-friends Jude Montejo, Sebastian Tufferi and Lalon(?) were also present with their videos. Mark from the Korean Broadcasting Service was also there.
I used a Nikon D80 with an 18-135 zoom lens for all the shots seen here. (Yeah, I still have to buy a 50mm1.8 and a 50-200 VR!)

Photobin: Miss Tagbilaran 2007 Swimsuit Shoot
It's been almost a couple months now since the pageant. But,I never got around posting these pics yet. Anyways,Sandugo season is coming and news is the Miss Sandugo beauty pageant won't happen this year. Mayor Lim just won't allow it, sources confirm. A lot of people have been debating over this issue for the past week. Some are furious why it's not pushing through while some are quite happy.
Featured contestants: Ladz, Cherry, Angeli and Cheezel
